JADED FISH

I looked at my profile on Plenty of Fish and realized it needed a little jazzing up. I added a couple of attractive pictures and made the profile more exciting and edgy. I got a bite on my hook right away- a very attractive guy with a bunch of pictures. He’s 6’4, 35, brown skin, pretty curly hair, on the slim side, but with a really sexy mustache goatee framing some sexy lips. Only problem is he’s lives far away. He emailed me:

“I am very attracted to you and like your profile... you are absolutely gorgeous! but you already know that. I would like to get to know you as a person and see how we click together... let me know if that interests you. I am looking very forward to your response, and if possible I would very much welcome the opportunity to talk or chat with you sometime... I eagerly await your response beautiful.”

Ok, so either he thinks I’m absolutely gorgeous or this is a cut and paste email he sends to all women. It’s a good one. Good thing I don’t fall easily for that. I’ve been called gorgeous, but I know enough to know every man doesn’t think that. So to come off with that right away is a little suspicious to me. The other thing that made me a little suspicious was the fact that he had eight pictures on his profile. They were all a little too good. Most of them looked like he set them up and posed for them. I guess I shouldn’t judge him for that, but, for a good looking guy (I’d rate him a 8), why would he be trying so hard? I responded and decided to try to feel him out.

Me: “Hello, you are very good looking yourself. But how would we get to know each other since you live so far away?”

Him: “We are actually not that far from each other... at least we are on the same coast. Besides, I find you very attractive and would love to get to know more about you if you are comfortable with that, beautiful. But I am curious, why don't you want children? Do you ever want to get married and settled down? Do you hope to find your soul mate like I do or are you just looking for a companion?”

I put on my profile that I didn’t want to get married or have kids. Because I don’t. But why was he asking? I’ve never met him and he’s asking me about kids. Is that shady or what? Is he trying to be romantic and flowery and lure me into some sort of online love scam? Is that really his picture? It was just a little too much, don’t you think? Or maybe he just happens to be a, tall attractive 35 year-old single romantic man looking for true love on Plenty of Fish. Riiiiiiight.

Me: “Thanks for the compliments. I'm not interested in getting married because I already did it.
